Eldenholme, a large town at the heart of the kingdom, radiates wealth and learning. Its humble university is a center of learning for the region its and towering castle complexes radiate power. The university, with its sprawling grounds, draws scholars and inventors from across the region, especially to its cartography school. The Castles, perched atop hills mostly, serve as both noble residences and defensive strongholds. A number have been abandoned over the decades however as their owners fortunes waned and now lie in ruin overrun by vegetation and crooked elements.

The city's bustling trade district is famous for its stonemasons, whose craft has shaped the city’s architecture and provided for its fortifications. At the center of the market square stands the Idol of Maan, a gleaming golden monument to Eldenholme’s founder, the legendary Penelope Maan. Pilgrims and historians flock to see it, and whispers abound of its mystical properties. A brisk trade in small replica idols is conducted at its base.

In the alleys and outskirts and abandoned castle estates, less savory characters lurk. Cutpurses use them as bases of operations and enchantresses can be paid to weave subtle spells to sway merchants and nobles alike. Ratcatchers patrol the streets to keep the city clean and secure, their sharp eyes catching more than just vermin.

Beyond the walls, the city is surrounded by fertile lands dotted with humble monasteries where monks live simple lives, offering sanctuary to travelers and producing fine ales and manuscripts. The city’s Recruiters tirelessly enlist fresh talent both for the local guards as well as for merchants seeking extra protection, ensuring Eldenholme’s strength both in trade and in battle.
