Through the Swamp

Cornucopia & Guilds & Plunder

Deep within the sprawling Fenvale Swamp, Mirefield is a small but tenacious settlement. Life here is shaped by the murky waters, endless marshes, and the faint promise of prosperity for those daring enough to traverse its treacherous paths. The swamp itself is a dangerous place, rife with predators, sucking mud, and thick fogs that conceal unseen perils.

The village is built on raised wooden platforms and stone embankments, connected by winding walkways and rope bridges with construction overseen by swamp-wise taskmasters. Its economy thrives on trade with passing merchants brave enough to make the crossing, as well as local industries such as crafting, swamp fishing, and the harvesting of rare herbs and roots unique to the Fenvale. The merchant guild oversees most trade, ensuring every deal is fair—or at least profitable.

Mirefield is also a vital stop for pilgrims making their way to distant shrines, their journey fraught with trials. Both locals and travelers are known to carry tools and talismans to protect against both the elements and the supernatural forces said to dwell in the swamp.

Mirefield contains the oddest menagerie in the realm, which showcases exotic swamp creatures captured by daring hunters from giant frogs to massive mud eels to the shiny carapaced Mirror Beetles.

The Horn of Plenty Tavern is a popular spot where swamp tales are told over mugs of fermented root brew and candala candles keep the incessant mosquitoes at bay.
