Tucked away on the southern coast, Zanj Kreyol is a haunting canal village steeped in shamanistic traditions. Run by Bokors who practice ancient voodoo rites, the settlement is a mixture of eerie charm and maritime pragmatism. Its deepwater port welcomes seafarers and traders, though whispers of old pirate dealings still linger in its misty alleys. The village is currently experiencing a remodeling effort to attempt to reform the village from its checkered past. The monthly 'Festival of the Dead' however transforms the village into a ghostly spectacle of masked revelers and ceremonial rites, honoring spirits long passed. Just offshore churns the Bloodsnake Maelstrom, a swirling vortex said to have been summoned by the legendary Bokor "Makay" to destroy an invading fleet. Even now, the maelstrom remains, an ominous tool for dealing with troublesome outsiders - or so the locals claim in hushed tones over rum.
