Highvale is a remote hamlet perched high in the Dramascuc Valley in the Frostmaw Range, surrounded by breathtaking snow-capped peaks and alpine forests. The hamlet is centered around a mining community, where prospectors extract valuable ores and gems and stone from the frozen earth, braving harsh winds and frostbite for their fortune. The pass is the only road connecting the distant lands of Omah and Drechdin. The peaks attract adventurers and merchants alike, seeking the riches whispered to lie hidden in the caves and cracks and ruins of fallen civilizations.

Highvale hosts many seasonal fairs and festivals, where locals showcase their crafts, and visitors barter rare goods and tales of far-off lands. Tanuki tricksters roam the outskirts, causing occasional mischief but also serving as protectors against more sinister threats, like the coven of witches that dwell in the shadows of the mountain passes.

Highvale is humming, thanks in part to its proximity to the mysterious Tracker's Shrine, said to grant blessings to the town's hunters and foragers. Lantern-lit Inns dot the valley, offering warmth and respite to weary travelers, while the town's skilled salvagers repurpose old mining equipment into tools of innovation and trackers hunt the Direbears that threaten travellers, taking their pelts as lucrative rewards.

Highvale's people are hardy and resourceful, united by a shared resilience in the face of their mountain home's challenges.
