Fairwynd Hollow is a quiet, unassuming burgh lying at the foot of rolling hills, yet it is far from ordinary. Known for its ironmongers and traders, the village thrives under the auspices of a wealthy patrician council, whose ornate council crowns glint in the sunlight as they survey their holdings. But beneath the surface lies an undercurrent of mystery - a secret ritual known only to the squires and their masters.

The School of Squirehood is a peculiar institution in Fairwynd. While the squires serve their leige lords in the usual fashion, there are whispered tales of secret gatherings in the museum archives - a hidden chamber deep beneath the village’s bustling square. It is a hall of memories and ancient artifacts and also, it is rumoured, a place where the squires perform ancient rituals said to invoke the strength of the land itself, binding their fortunes to the earth and to their knightly masters. The rituals are as much about ambition as loyalty, with squires hoping to ascend through sacrifice and cunning.

Though the burgh is outwardly idyllic, the presence of rogues and hermits on its outskirts suggests that not everyone agrees with the ways of the council. The rogues thrive in the shadows, while the hermits speak of an older, purer way of life, urging settlers in the newer areas to remember the simpler truths. Meanwhile, the Ironmongers Guild labor tirelessly, their forges casting shadows long into the evening as they work on catapults and siege engines for their King and his army.
