Verdigrave is a town caught in a strange, almost hypnotic cycle of decay and renewal. Built atop the ruins of an ancient fortress, the settlement seems to thrive in its rot. The air is thick with the scent of damp wood and decomposing vegetation, while colorful fungi creep across stone walls and old timbers, their vibrant hues giving the decay an eerie beauty. Rats swarm freely here, seemingly as much a part of the town as its people, while cultists whisper strange hymns in the shadows, claiming that the land’s corruption is a blessing, not a curse.

In the haunted Vertgard Woods surrounding Verdigrave, glowing spores drift like fireflies, luring the unwary into traps both natural and supernatural. Dungeons beneath the old fortress have been repurposed as hideouts for scavengers and ratcatchers, who earn their keep hunting vermin or unearthing lost artifacts. Amid this chaos, the arrival of a band of knights offers a sense of order, but their presence is tenuous in a place that seems to reject control.

The townfolk are a resourceful and resilient bunch, razing and rebuilding unstable structures and transmogrifying old, useless items into something new. Beneath the decay, there’s an odd vibrancy—like a forest sprouting after a fire - yet the ever present death carts and mad cultists serves as a constant reminder of how close the settlement teeters to collapse. Verdigrave is both grotesque and enchanting, a place where beauty is born from ruin, and survival depends on embracing the strange balance between destruction and creation.
