Dürremund is a rugged, sovereign city standing defiantly at the edge of the realm, perched along the vast Comos River. Its cobbled streets and fortified stone structures echo tales of resilience and ambition. Looming above the city is the Citadel, where the sovereign lord and the king's envoys tirelessly plan ways to claim a foothold in Derunland, the untamed wilderness across the river.

Attempts to settle the far shore have all ended in disaster. The giants of Derunland, ancient rulers of the wild expanse, tolerate no intrusion into their lands. Occasionally, they send a stark reminder of their might: massive boulders hurled across the Comos to shatter against Dürremund's outer buildings and docks.

The Comos itself, wide and swift, has no bridges. Only a handful of ferrymen - branded as either brave or insane - dare to ply its dangerous waters, ferrying the bold and the foolhardy to the opposite shore. Within the city, wealthy peddlers make their fortunes selling provisions, maps, and dubious advice to those willing to risk the journey while hirelings abound ready to make their fortune on many an ill-fated expedition. The king offers tantalizing rewards for anyone who ventures deep into Derunland, whether to find the distant land of Felling or simply return alive with knowledge of the way.

By night, taverns buzz with tales of the colossal giants and the untouched lands beyond the river. Storytellers spin sagas of fortune and terror, drawing in dreamers and would-be adventurers. For now, Dürremund stands as a bulwark against the wilderness, a testament to human determination and the allure of the unknown.
