Ouldspire is a shadowy settlement clinging to survival in the crags of a forgotten valley amongst the ruins of an ancient city. Its dark, narrow streets are filled with the echoes of hurried footsteps and whispered negotiations. The Poor House dominates the heart of the village, a crumbling structure filled with the desperate and downtrodden. Here, scavengers and beggars scrape by, trading what little they have for the promise of a meal or a dangerous contract.

The Graverobbers’ Guild operates openly, unearthing and selling relics from ancient crypts and forgotten graves. Bartering is a way of life in Ouldspire, with brokers striking deals for food, coin, and favor in dimly lit alcoves. Barbarians rule the ruins, selling their muscle to the highest bidder and collecting money from the townsfolk for "protection".

The cave dwellers who reside in the open sewers and catacombs have their own set of rules and are generally shunned by the townsfolk. Wizards pick through the ruins of the decaying Magic Academy and offer their services to the desperate, conjuring spells and summoning powers for those who can afford their steep price. Meanwhile, highwaymen lie in wait along the trade routes, preying on those foolish enough to leave or enter Ouldspire with valuables.

Despite its dark reputation, Ouldspire is a place of some opportunity - where a clever mind, a strong arm, or a sharp tongue can earn riches, power, or an early grave. The settlement thrives in its grim economy, its very existence proof that even in the shadow of death, there is always business to be done.
