Potchen is a bustling town located at the base of the Wyrmlock Plateau, ruled by the charismatic but paranoid Baron Deven. The Baron's low taxes and strategic alliances with the influential Innkeepers’ Association have made him a favorite among the many merchants who frequent Potchen’s lively market square. Merchants set up colorful camps throughout the settlement, selling wares from across the kingdom, while traveling traders fill the inns to capacity nightly.

However, Potchen's peace is tenuous. The nearby Wizard School, cloaked in secrecy and ambition, harbors an ongoing feud with the Baron, constantly seeking to usurp his rule. Their enigmatic plots, whispered about in every corner of the town, keep the Baron’s spies busy and tensions high.

Above Potchen, on the rugged slopes of the plateau, lie the settlements of the Plateau Shepherds. These hardy folk remain neutral in the town’s power struggles but are essential to its economy. Their favor can lead to lucrative trade in fine wool and plateau-crafted goods, making them a prized, albeit independent, ally.
