Ishlaley is an isolated town high in the Fanghorm Mountains and the townsfolk here are left to rely on their own ingenuity and resilience. Builders work tirelessly, constructing forts at strategic points along the Chesman Pass to repel attacks and establish the Kingdom’s foothold in these contested peaks. Supplies are scarce, and the mountain roads are treacherous, but barges laden with goods occasionally make the perilous journey along the Ches River to bolster the settlement’s efforts.

The native skirmishers, expert at navigating the craggy terrain, launch regular raids against the builders and merchants, their knowledge of the mountains granting them a deadly advantage. Meanwhile, the coven of mountain witches is an ever-present threat, their eerie chants echoing across the valleys on stormy nights. The witches curse the settlers, and their magic has driven more than one worker to abandon their post.

In the midst of this, the Kingdom sends couriers to the mountain clans, carrying messages of peace—and bribes - designed to forge tenuous alliances. The settlement’s guildmaster, tasked with managing these diplomatic overtures, faces an uphill battle as every failed negotiation tightens the noose of hostility around Ishlaley.

Ishlaley is a place of hardship and grit. With no reinforcements in sight and danger around every corner, the people of the town embody the Kingdom's spirit of endurance, carving out a fragile existence in the face of nature and enmity. The mountain winds howl through the Chesman Pass, a constant reminder of the precarious line between survival and defeat.
