Gufoville stands on the edge of the wild Velt Forest, where civilization clashes with the untamed frontier. Once a modest village, the arrival of Marquis Vellintower has transformed it into a strategic hub for both trade and diplomacy. The Marquis dreams of a thriving town where merchants and native clans exchange goods rather than blows, but his ambitions are constantly challenged by the marauding barbarians who roam the region.

The King's bounties on barbarian leaders have turned Gufoville into a magnet for bounty hunters. These grim-faced figures, armed to the teeth, haunt the town's hostelries and shadowy corners, sharing tales of close encounters in the forest while sharpening their blades. Meanwhile, on the outskirts of town, colorful merchant camps have sprung up thanks to monetary incentives from the Marquis. Here, traders attempt to win the trust of the native clans, offering goods and coin in exchange for peace and native produce.

At the heart of the town stands a newly-constructed three storey building housing an Architects' Guild, brought in by the Marquis to fortify Gufoville’s defenses and lend grandeur to its buildings. The architects, however, are uneasy, their patience tested by the constant threat of barbarian raids. Marquis Vellintower pours money into their coffers and into diplomatic feasts, desperate to keep them in town long enough to complete his vision.

Overlooking the forest edge is a modest Wizards' Guild, a collection of arcane scholars who provide counsel and magical assistance, though they remain wary of becoming entangled in the Marquis' schemes. Alongside them, hunting lodges abound throughout the woodlands, as the Velt Forest teems with game. Hunters, often seen with owls or sleek black cats, move between the lodges and the forest, either stalking prey or guiding newcomers to safety.

Gufoville is a town on the cusp of transformation. It is a place where tensions simmer, alliances are forged, and ambition faces the wild unpredictability of the frontier. The Marquis believes in his dream of peace, but the barbarians and the unforgiving wilderness may yet test the limits of his resolve.
